About Us
Our story
My name is Lidiane de Oliveira Vilela, I am a doctor and a coffee grower. I currently live in the municipality of Varginha, but my family is from Ilicínea, south of Minas Gerais, a region known for the cultivation and quality of its coffees. My parents Suely Assunção de Oliveira and Lázaro Cândido Vilela (Zizico), came from families with tradition in coffee growing and initially I didn't follow it and moved to Belo Horizonte where I studied medicine. During college I met my husband Daniel Lessa Akerman, from a Montes-Clarense and Belorizontina family, who also graduated as a doctor. During the 15 years that I lived in the capital of Minas Gerais, I followed the walk of my mother's coffee plantation from afar. which after a few years fell apart. She used to say that she stopped fertilizing coffee to fertilize me and my sister Fabiana at universities. After graduating and working, with encouragement from my husband, we decided to resume coffee production. We have the support of my mother and father-in-law, Jacques, who is a psychoanalyst in Belo Horizonte. We signed a partnership and in 2017 we started replanting the crop on the same land where I had my first contact with coffee growing as a child. We formed a plantation with approximately 40 thousand coffee trees, 100% Arabica, in the Mundo Novo and Yellow Catuaí varieties. In 2020 we are inaugurating our brand “Café dos Anjos”, named after my maternal grandmother, Maria dos Anjos Alvarenga Costa (Dona Nega). With a lot of love, dedication, care, with improvements and progress year after year, we want to bring quality coffee to people's house.
